The descent module witch panel is used to manually switch the power buses of individual units and instruments through use of manual circuit breakers and toggle switches. The panel also provides current protection to hardware in the descent module. The manual circuit breakers have built-in thermo-elements that activate in the event of current overload, effectively disconnecting the load.  The circuit breaker is ON when the switch in the upper position.  When the overload triggers the circuit breaker, the switch automatically flips to the lower position.  Toggling the switch will not restore power to the disconnected circuit until the thermos-element has cooled.

Circuit protection for this device with toggle switches as well as this lower device without toggle switches is provided by fuses, Fuse status is monitoring by LEDs location on the panel front.  The red LED illuminates when the corresponding fuse has blown. The label of the LED matches that of the fuse located under the cover. Spare fuses and space for blown fuses are located under the panel cover. Rated values for the installed fuses are noted on the back side of the fuses cover.
